Subcutaneous Immunotherapy Administration

Subcutaneous Immunotherapy (SCIT) stands as the globally predominant method for allergy treatment. It involves administering periodic subcutaneous injections, each meticulously prescribed by allergists and immunologists based on individual patient profiles.

The treatment comprises two phases:

Induction Phase: This phase entails gradually escalating doses of standardized allergen extracts, administered 1 or 2 times per week. The aim is to desensitize the patient to allergens and attain effective disease control.

Maintenance Phase: Upon reaching the effective dose, typically after several weeks of induction, patients transition to the maintenance phase. Here, monthly injections are administered over a span of 3 to 5 years to sustain desensitization and symptom control.

Although adverse reactions are infrequent, they can occur, manifesting as localized or systemic reactions. Thus, it's imperative to conduct the procedure under medical supervision in a facility equipped to manage any potential adverse events. Patients are advised to remain under observation in the doctor's office for at least 30 minutes post-injection to monitor for immediate reactions.
